Domingo 5 de marzo de 2023 El Universal En enero, incrementa 54.6% ingreso irregular de migrantes a México Durante enero de este año fueron registrados 36 mil 147 eventos de migrantes extranjeros que se internaron a México de manera irregular, lo que significa un incremento de 54.6 por ciento respecto al mismo periodo de 2022.

La Secretaría de Gobernación (Segob) destacó que de este total, 65.6 por ciento de las personas fueron presentadas y 34.4 por ciento fueron canalizadas por el Instituto Nacional de Migración (INM). Del total registrado, 66.2 por ciento fueron hombres y 33.8 por ciento mujeres.		 Demografía

Martes 28 de marzo de 2023 Excelsior Mañanera' López Obrador: temas de la conferencia del 28 de marzo de 2023 En el incendio ocurrido en un albergue de Ciudad Juárez la noche del lunes murieron 39 migrantes originarios de Centroamérica y Venezuela, informó el presidente Andrés Manuel López Obrador, quien calificó el hecho como una “terrible desgracia”.

 Wednesday March 8, 2023 CNN UK asylum bill would ‘undermine’ international law, says UN refugee agency The UK government has insisted a controversial plan aimed at blocking undocumented migrants from entering the country on small boats is legal, despite criticism from the United Nations and other global bodies.
British Home Secretary Suella Braverman introduced an illegal immigration bill this week aimed at tackling people crossing the English Channel to reach the UK, which if passed “would amount to an asylum ban,” the UN refugee agency (UNHCR) said in a statement.
The UK government has made stopping small boats arriving a top priority. Under the plans, those arriving via this route face detention and deportation. Those removed will be banned from returning.
But the UNHCR said Tuesday the bill would be a “clear breach” of the 1951 Refugee Convention, which defines refugees as those who are seeking refuge from persecution. It also gives them the right to not be sent back home into harm’s way, except under extreme circumstances.		 Human Rights

Wednesday March 15, 2023 European Commission Italy: New law adopted on immigration On 10 March the Italian government adopted a new decree on immigration, following a shipwreck in which 88 people died close to the Italian coast due to delays in search and rescue operations. The final version of the law is currently being discussed in Parliament, but the text has been effective since 11 March.

While the main focus of the law is the criminalisation of those driving such boats as the one involved in the recent shipwreck, it also introduces changes to a form of complementary protection called ‘special protection’, to reception and detention centres, and to the length of labour permits. The so-called 'special protection permit' is a form of protection initially introduced by the Salvini Decree in 2018, then modified by a decree in 2020 to allow for the 'regularisation' of migrants with relevant family or social ties in the country.
