[...] Los datos no dejan de ser brutales y terminan justificando esa dureza: en 2023 fueron detenidos por autoridades de Estados Unidos al intentar cruzar su frontera sur poco más de dos millones de migrantes ilegales, la mitad de ellos, cerca de un millón, provenían de México o Venezuela. [...] En la frontera norte, el nearshoring y las inversiones son una realidad, pero pensar que éstas se asentarán en toda esa región del país sin garantizar su seguridad (además de la energía, el gas y el agua) es ingenuo. Y ese enorme movimiento migratorio sin control, nos guste o no, es un desafío a la seguridad nacional de México y de Estados Unidos, sobre todo cuando buena parte del mismo proviene de países que están en franca confrontación con la Unión Americana: Venezuela, Cuba, Nicaragua, entre otros, protegidos por el gobierno de México. With that will come a repeat of the 2020 duel versus Joe Biden, who this time is president, and with Immigration and the border at the center of the contest once again. This historic political-electoral mix already has the flavor of revenge on at least two different levels. On the one hand, it represents the opportunity for the Republican ex-leader to return to the White House and conclude the anti-immigrant and white supremacist policies that were left half done.
